This will be the last time I incorporate all those past year rankings! I think they have got out of hand already. However, it gives a historical perspective of where the Renault Group sells its cars, including Dacia and Samsung along with the Renault brand. The list below is colour coded to match regions of the world.

The introduction of Dacia models moved sales toward emerging markets. Brazil and Russia for example quickly became successful markets for Renault with their arrival. It moved the emphasis away from mainly Europe, which in turn broadens the Group's catchment area. One concern will be continued lack of presence in the world's largest market China. Another will be over one in five sales in France. Yet another is no sales at all in North America.

Data Source: Renault.

Summary: Renault has done some good things of late. It was a company at risk, but has become focused on profit over volume. Dacia has been very successful, especially sold under the Renault logo in emerging markets. It is now getting into crossovers and doing it well.

The not so good is the need to become broader in its sales reach and to sort out newly acquired Lada in a difficult market. Government interference rarely works and I'll say no more on that. Plenty to work on still.
The Renault Logan is a winner
