The new Clubman is a vastly improved car
The chart below is coloured green for increase and yellow for the opposite. It's mainly yellow, which would indicate a poor year. The truth is the marque had a healthy 12% increase. The reason for this is the new 5-door hatch helped with a 56% jump in sales for that model. The other main selling model, the Countryman felt the effect of the 5-door's arrival. The new Countryman coming in 2016 will be bigger (no, really). Also new, a much improved Clubman (released end of 2015) will lift that model for 2016 as well. Some variants haven't been successful though (Paceman, Roadster and Coupé), so they are being phased out, explaining why all dropped in volume.

Summary: Overall a good year for MINI, its best in its history. It's unlikely 2016 will see the same increase but the new models will be another boost to volumes. MINI has had unique platforms in the past which is costly and means MINI hasn't been the money generator BMW hoped for. However, now that MINI is sharing the platform cost with some BMW models will help and the marque is going upmarket slightly as well. The youthful, fun image remains but toned down a bit to to fit with the upmarket direction.
The new MINI is still fun but growing up
