The new XF has arrived |
JLR lost 5,800 vehicles in a shocking explosion at a Chinese port, which must have affected sales as replacements are made and sent out. I get the impression demand for models such as the Range Rover and RR Sport exceed production capacity too. Therefore the latest sales release is impressive.
Land Rover sales were up 21% to 34,000 and Jaguar 39% (7,500). Combined sales increased 24% to 41,500. Land Rover is performing well across the range. For Jaguar the new XE accounted for nearly half of October's sales. The new XF will now start registering too and is progressively being rolled out. With the F-Pace from April next year Jaguar will no longer be a marginal car make.
JLR has no desire to sell in massive numbers. Its wants some exclusivity and besides, the lower priced segments need big numbers to make operating there profitable. JLR isn't set up for that...yet.
The Range Rover Sport is proving too popular, if that is possible |
