London Car Sales By Brand : 2015

The London Region increased sales by 6.8%, just above the national 6.3%. The population is nearly 8.2 million or 15.4% of the England total. It's by far the most densely populated region with 5,200 people per square km conpared to the average of 407. Average earnings are the highest in England at £35,000 (average £27,500). Yet it only has 7.5% of sales, or less than half its population percentage. Clearly the city's density makes car ownership more difficult and less desirable.

Winners: Mercedes has 7.7% share (5.5% nationally) and is ranked 2nd (7th). Nissan has 7.5% (5.8%) and 3rd (6th). Renault has 6.1% (2.9%) and ranked 7th (13th). Toyota 5.8% (3.7%) and 9th (9th). Land Rover 3% (2.5%) and 11th (16th). Porsche took 1.1% (0.5%) and 21st (27th). Smart 0.6% (0.3%) and 28th (30th).

Losers: Vauxhall only claimed 7.3% (10.2%) and 5th (2nd). Peugeot just had 2.1% (4.0%) and 15th (8th). Hyundai about half the national average at 1.7% (3.3%) and 18th (10th). Citroën even lower with just 1.2% (3.0%) and 20th (11th).

There is a large Ford engine plant in the area, at Dagenham, in the eastern part of the city.
