When I saw that Land Rover had developed an electric Defender, I thought what use would that be? According to the company that assisted in its coming to fruition, Axeon, primarily for African game parks. The silent Defender could stealthily approach wild animals without scaring them off with the noise of an internal combustion engine. In other words it would allow tourists to get closer to the wild life. It also has environmental benefits too, yet practical enough to do three tours without charging.
While electric vehicles usually hold their batteries in the floor to lower the centre of gravity and improve handling characteristics, the electric Land Rover's 400 kg battery pack is placed underneath the bonnet. This gets the electric pack higher for when driving through water.
There maybe other applications in which an electric defender would be useful, although I cannot think of any offhand.
