Vauxhall Corsa is a top seller in Scotland. |
"By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes, Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond..." Whether you take the high or low road, you will get to Scotland as long as you head north.
Car sales for Scotland are usually part of UK figures (although maybe for not much longer) and had 9.2% of the total UK share, up from 9.1 in 2012 and 8.8% in 2011. So what is special about Scotland sales compared to the UK?
Firstly, GM's Vauxhall brand outsells Ford, whereas in all other nations within the union Ford is the more popular. Compared to other UK regions (excluding Northern Ireland), Scotland is the most popular region for Renault, Mazda, Dacia and Chevrolet. Premium brands all grew in 2013. The largest brand of the sizable 'Others' would be Chrysler, which I have no data for.
Below yellow is decrease, pink increase but less market share and green growth in sales and share. The total market was up 12%, so overall a positive result. For 2012 sales please click here.
