The Ford Fiesta Popular in Wales. |
Wales had a new car sales increase of 17% in 2013, very strong indeed. I have data back to 2009 and total sales were easily the best for that period. Ford had it's best share since 2009, while Vauxhall had it's best including 2009. Both brands increased faster than the buoyant market did.
Now looking at the car makes listed below. The only brand that is strongest in The Principality and that exceeds Scotland all regional areas of England was Suzuki, while Mitsubishi did better here than any English region. Marques that do worse in Wales than Scotland and all English regions are Audi, Honda, Jaguar and Lexus. Overall, Wales had 3.8% of the total UK market, up from 3.6% for the previous two years.
Below yellow is decrease, pink increase but less market share and green growth in sales and share. The total market was up 12%, so overall a positive result. For 2012 sales please click here.
