Straight up, I would like to say what a fine job ACEA do in collating this data. Of course there is always more the data nut will want, such as a few more brands on the list. However, the main ones are here which amounts to 99.5% of the total.

For Europe (excluding Russia) sales were up 6.5% for June and 9.1% YTD. That is a good showing and close to record numbers. As my data is based on market share movement, it reflects more clearly who is truly gaining in this competitive environment.

VW has its lowest share (11.2%) since 2010 and it was 2008 since VW was below 11%. One brand that is revitalising itself is Renault, seemingly a beneficiary of VW's self inflicted woes. New models in the crossover / SUV segments are helping greatly. It was 2010 that Renault was last listed 2nd. Fiat has moved into the top ten, with the 500X leading the way.

Honda has been a long term loser in this region, but is mounting a comeback in 2016 thanks in part to the new HR-V. Of course no data these days is complete without mentioning the awakening of the Leaping Cat. Jaguar sales are up 103% and it has a 41% market share gain over the full 2015 year. The XE and now the F-Pace are making their mark.
