This is the most populous of all the regions in England, with over 8.6 million. or 16.3% of the England total. Population density is 452 people per square kilometer (England 406). Medium earnings are the second highest in England at £28,600 (average £27,500). The relative affluence means it takes nearly 23.5% of sales, a fair amount over its population percentage.

The BMW MINI is built in the region, just north of London at Oxford, Oxfordshire. To the south there is also Mclaren and Rolls Royce factories, neither feature on the list below.

Winners: VW was the best selling brand here (the only region in England where it is) and with an increased share at that. Ford did well too but made no ground on the leader and its share is still below the national average. Audi took an 8.3% share (6.3% nationally) while Mercedes secured 8.0% (5.5%). Toyota 4.8% (3.7%) and 6th (9th) with Hyundai claiming 4.8% (3.3%).

Losers: Vauxhall only claimed 8.9% (10.2%) and BMW 4.5% (6.4%) and 7th (4th). Peugeot 2.9% (4.0%) Citroën 2.3% (3.0%) and Suzuki .08% (1.3%) also did poorly.

Further down, Mitsubishi, smart and Jeep had big increases.
