In 2006, the VW Group (VW, Audi, Škoda, SEAT, Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, MAN and Scania) reached delivery sales of 5,720,000 vehicles. So how has the four main regions gone?

Europe / Other: It accounted for 63% of the total ten years ago, but is now 45%. The drop has been consistent and advantageous as too many sales in one place can leave a car maker exposed by sudden changes in that region.

Asia / Pacific: Only 15% has expanded into 40% in a short period. China is the reason.  over 4 million vehicles were delivered in 2015, up from 846,000 in 2006. A real success story for VW, getting into China so early and being able to fully capitalise on the growth experienced there.

North America: The percentage share has remained static over the period here discussed which is to be expected. VW would like it to be doing better.

South America: Tings went well in the region until 2012, riding on the wave of sales Brazil provided. From 2013, it has gone poorly in that nation and VW has felt it.

Summary: 2015 was the first year of negative deliveries in ten years (-2%). 2016 should be slightly better but things will remain somewhat muted. 10,000,000 sales seems to be a ceiling that is hard to progress forward from.

The figures below are in thousands so three zeros should be added to them. They are classified as delivery sales so I guess that means either cars delivered to countries or dealers.
