Land Rover Sales Australia By Model: 1999-2012

LR sales peaked 'down under' in 1999. The Discovery was on a roll, accounting for 63% of LR sales. Then occurred a slide for six years, reaching a low point in 2005. The RR Sport help start a renaissance in '06 that has seen good growth until now.

Land Rover has been climbing quickly since 2009 with 2015 a record. The Discovery is a popular model in Australia and the 4,400 sales in 1999 was a huge figure, which will not be repeated for a single model. 2012 saw the Disco knocked off its perch as the best selling vehicle of the range. However, by 2014 it was back on top.

You can see in the chart below the effect the RR Sport had on its big brother from 2005, although between the two of them sales were much better. The RR has had a revival of late, as did the Defender. The latter nearly reached 1,000 sales in 2015.

I would imagine sales growth will continue with the Discovery Sport destined to be a winner. The big story of this 17 years is the Discovery, with over 40,000 registrations.
