R12/16/17: This mid-sized saloon/wagon car slotted between the R8/10 and R16 and it sold well. It was also made in Romania by Dacia as the 1300 model. The 16 and 16 were coupe versions of the R12, so I have added them in there.
A gathering of a R12 car club somewhere?

R5: The supermini '5' was an outstanding success. It had a character that endeared it to it's owners.
R20/30: French car makers often struggle to with executive car sales. They were expensive to repair and not as reliable as they needed to be. The execution just wasn't quite right though I thought the external styling was good.
The R20. Clean lines

R14: It was a small hatchback model, marketed as a pear! Hmmm. It was known to have rust problems and seems to have relied heavily on it's home market for sales.
R18: The 18 was conventional a family car. It was designed to appeal globally, hence the 'safe' execution.
Summary: Things were building nicely for Renault. They had strong support at home and in Europe. If there was a weakness, there were still many markets were it was weak or not present at all.
