Jaguar sales were modest in 2011, but they were profitable. Much of its recent history has featured red ink, so that itself is an achievement. Think of what an SUV would have done for the brand. Jaguar is a case of missed opportunities, but they are remedying that. Some bright spots were China, Korea, Russia and Singapore. The brand is definitely heading easterly for future growth, as the west stagnates.
The USA became the biggest market for Jaguar in 1982 and remained so until 2006, when the UK took it back. Things were tight in 2011, but the home market prevailed. Now China is threatening to challenge what has been a two horse race.
