VW came in #1 for the 5th year straight

A nice 5.2% increase is just what the doctor ordered, but this is well short of full health. In 2008, sales exceeded 88,000 and its been half of that or less every year since. The 27,800 sales of 2013 was a dark time for the industry.

VW took the lead from Opel in 2011, who in turn had taken it off Renault in 2004. Despite reasonable calm at the top, things further down are fluid. Dacia up 82%, Suzuki +132%, smart and Land Rover around the 120% increase mark. Then you have Hyundai down over 40% (down seven places) and Honda off 25%.

There is some political uncertainty in Croatia presently but despite that, some growth is expected in 2016. However, that isn't being predicted as being significant. More a case of steady as she goes.
