Toyota is the best selling brand in New Zealand, not to private buyers but dominates the fleet market. How it does that and remain profitable I can only speculate. Many of those fleet sales come in around November I have noticed so the poor 14.0% of total sales it has achieved so far will not be the way the year ends.
The Corolla is the model that TNZ pins much of its volume. A popular second hand car, it manages to retain value as a used car despite the second hand market being awash with them. Small cars are on the decline, evidenced by the Corolla's share of total Toyota sales diminishing. People increasingly want SUVs and crossover types of vehicles, a trend that is global.
The Hilux is a commercial vehicle by classification, so isn't listed here. Nearly 2,500 of that model have been sold so far, making it the best selling vehicle in TNZ's range.
