The 500 is a major production model for the Polish car industry |
Poland has two main car makers, Fiat and GM. Fiat make the 500, the Lancia Ypsilon and Ford Ka. Opel does the Astra and Cascada convertible. VW makes the Caddy and Transporter vans. The VW Crafter will aso be made in Poland from 2016 in a new plant being built there. The Utility side should also include MAN trucks/buses and some bus makers such as Scania, Volvo and Solaris but I do not have that data. If any of the readers can help, please let me know.

Summary: Car production is down on what it was a few years ago. Over 850,000 cars were made in 2008, but since then Daewoo has gone and other car makers have cut back. It seems that there will be a rebound now as economic conditions improve in Europe.
