In the 1990's, Romanian car production was just under the 100,000 units per year. The two main companies were Dacia and Daewoo, with Aro making a limited numbers of cars. In 1999, Renault acquired Dacia and initially production fell. Then from 2001 - when Romania made only 57,000 cars - things started to improve. The Logan model came out in 2004 and the Sandero Hatchback in 2008. By 2009, Dacia made almost 280,000 cars, although by then it was the only brand still in car production in Romania.
In 2010 came the Duster SUV and volume passed 300,000. Ford started making the B-Max mini MPV based on the Fiesta model. With that, production exceeded 400,000 for the first time but Ford cut back production in 2014, resulting in a 5% drop.

Utility production would come in here but it has petered out recently. Ford stopped in 2011, switching from Transit Connect vans to the B-Max car model and Dacia likewise in 2012. The Roman truck company still makes a few vehicles but I didn't feel it warranted a chart to show a few units.
Summary: Dacia has production capacity for 350,000 vehicles so is close to that now. Because of that the two new models - the Lodgy and Dokker - are therefore made in Morocco. For now production volume in Romania is at a maximum unless Ford increases.
PS. Dacia makes a lot of CKD kits for cars to be made elsewhere, which are not counted here as Romanian production. Including these vehicles, over 500,000 Dacia vehicles were made for the first time ever in 2014.
