Take the long way home |
Jaguar Land Rover had a strong year in the USA. Looking at each separately:
Land Rover: The marque had an all time record year, narrowly passing the previous high of 2007. The Sport model didn't do as well while customers waited for the new model. It came late in the year and will certainly impact on 2014 sales in a positive way. The new Range Rover had a strong 56% increase and extra stock of the Evoque being made available helped that model up 28%. The older Discovery model and 'small' Freelander fared less well.
11 | 12 | 13 | Sales | Share | +/- | ||
1 | 1 | 1 | RR Sport | 15,976 | 31.9% | -3%
2 | 3 | 2 | Range Rover | 12,221 | 24.4% | 56%
5 | 2 | 3 | Evoque | 11,405 | 22.8% | 28%
3 | 4 | 4 | Discovery | 7,093 | 14.2% | -3%
4 | 5 | 5 | Freelander | 3,315 | 6.6% | 6%
Total | 50,010 | 15% |
Summary: I'm picking a new record in 2014.
Now at home in the snow with awd available |
Jaguar: The leaping cat had its best year in the US since 2006, when the S and X-Types were going strong. Sales up 41% is a stellar result. The XF continues to perform well in the showroom, 43% up in 2013. Likewise the XJ is doing well, and the new F-Type already has 13% of all Jag US sales. The only constraint is how many can be supplied.
11 | 12 | 13 | Sales | Share | +/- | ||
1 | 1 | 1 | XF | 7,922 | 46.7% | 43% | |
2 | 2 | 2 | XJ | 5,434 | 32.1% | 12% | |
- | - | 3 | F-Type | 2,250 | 13.3% | ||
3 | 3 | 4 | XK | 1,346 | 7.9% | -18% | |
Total | 16,952 | 41% |
Summary:Depending how many F-Types are available and how the XF goes, a more modest increase in 2014.
