Skoda Citigo On The Go

Car sales were down 4.7% but December was good so maybe improvement for 2014. Czech brand Škoda does well across the eastern border as well, but lost some ground for the year. Renault had a poor showing, as did its partner brand Nissan.

One brand not shown here is Qoros, which sold a mere twelve cars. What is interesting about this marque is that it is a Chinese one. It is from a joint venture between Chery and Israel Corp, with a team of top people mainly from Europe. The head of engineering is from BMW, the safety design team from Saab etc. While they have just started selling cars in China, Slovakia was chosen as a 'test the water' market in Europe. It will be years before they get into overseas markets seriously, but they are coming with a solid product.
