Ford has the 'edge' in Canada

Sales were up 2.7% in 2016, the same as last year and the seventh consecutive yearly increase. Ford took the lead in 2009 and held it since then. In fact, for 2016 it extended its lead over all its major competitors. Toyota has been second in six of the last seven years so is getting used to playing second fiddle to the Blue Oval. Honda enjoyed its fourth #3 spot in a row, with Hyundai doing the same but at fifth.

VW took a hit, presumably due to the cheat devise scandal, but Audi got off lightly. Land Rover and Volvo did well but nothing like Jaguar, that is coming out of LR's shadow. Smart looked...well, smart. Tesla, Ferrari, Lamboghini, Bentley and Rolls Royce are all estimates as they don't do figures. Go figure! Aston Martin and Lotus don't either but I couldn't even start to guess what they do.

In the chart below, pale yellow represents a reduction in registrations, pale blue is increase but lost market share. Green is for those exceeding the market growth and finally the salmon colour for those over 100% increase.
