This list covers the Western part of Europe, Malta one exception for which any sort of data is unobtainable. A 9% rise represents an increase of nearly 1.1 million sales. However sales were nearly 15 million in 2007, showing the tight financial situation hasn't left by any stretch. What it does show it has eased and on an upward path.
The UK had its best share of registrations (20.4%) in 2014 since 1980 (how far my records go back). 2015 was its second best. Italy did the opposite, having its worst year in 2014 (11.2%) but picked up strongly for 2015. France had its lowest share since 2007 and Spain its highest since 2008. It does seem to go in cycles.
Just one nation bucked the positive sales year and that was Luxembourg.
