The MINI I would choose for practicality and size, the 5-door

MINI looks good for 2015. A new hatchback model with the addition of a 5-door variant bodes well for the marque. Production has commenced in the Netherlands as capacity in the UK will be under pressure with the new model(s). The Roadster and coupé have been axed early 2015 to free up capacity at Oxford, and to conclude production of two niche models that didn't sell well. The Paceman is also for the chopping block and I have to say the right move, as it also failed to deliver.

As for breakdown by where MINI is now produced, it is made in three countries presently. The Netherlands was added to help with the new MINI Hatch and then later take over the Countryman production from Austria, which will make a BMW brand product instead. Steyr in Austria took on making the Countryman in 2010 as you can see below. The UK has gone from 90% of all MINI cars made in 2010 to 55% in 2014. The UK should increase that percentage in 2015 with the new model(s).

The difference in the total figure above and the one below for 2014 is because the top one is sales and the lower production.
