Toyota Etios - designed for emerging markets and a strong seller in the RSA |
Car stats in the Republic are gathered by two bodies, the largest is Naamsa, and the other AMH. The latter are marked by an asterisk and are fair estimates. AMH have been saying they will release sales data but it hasn't happened to my knowledge. Thankfully most brands reside under the much more transparent Naamsa. Just to confuse things Great Wall Motors is under neither, but has recently started reporting sales to Naamsa. Some smaller selling brands such as Bentley (AMH) and Aston Martin are simply not available.
This data excludes light commercial sales, which if included, would have Toyota well ahead. The top two increased by didn't gain share, while Ford raced ahead. Some cars that sell well in the RSA are less sophisticated models, such as the ones pictured.
