VW Brand Production By Model : 2013

The Magotan isn't a Latin dance, but a Passat variant. Now you know.

I would rather show sales but this is how VW shares the data. It would be very similar to sales anyway. The VW brand managed a 2.6% increase in production for 2013. The green shading shows models that went up and yellow for the downside.

The problem with any such list is presenting it with allowance for what is essentially the same model. The Passat, the CC, Santana and Magotan are much the same vehicle in different guises so they all come together. The Jetta and Golf are similar, but the Jetta now has a longer wheelbase so I kept them separate. The Polo has a four door Classic model that is combined here while Parati was a station wagon of the Gol model. They share the same location on this list.

The Lavida/Sagitar are Chinese models which are similar to the Jetta, which go head to head in China. Many feel it is basically the same car but VW wish to present them as different models. I have kept it that way but this seems like smoke and mirrors to me.

VW sales in China have given the brand respectability. Without them it could have looked rather dour. As for all these variants, I think VW need to simplify things a bit too.
