Car production was down a hefty 22% in 2014 according to ADEFA, who I
must say are a very efficient association. Car sales in Argentina have
really climbed in recent years and now there is a cyclical adjustment.
Utility vehicles held up better with only a 11% drop, but passenger car
making took a real hit.
Fiat: It manufactures the Palio/Siena cars and it was the latter that slipped. Overall Fiat held up well and is now the top car maker again, a place last held in 1998.
GM: It makes the Classic (older Corsa) which did fine and the Agile that slumped and may be on the way out. The Agile has a poor safety score.
Renault: It makes the Clio II, Fluence and Kangoo and they all lost similar volume.
Ford: Both the Focus and Ranger are made here and each did really well considering the market.
Peugeot: The 207, 308, 408 and Partner are assembled in Argentina. They all shared in the drop in production volume.
VW: The Suran car and Amarok Pick Up are made, with the former the bigger loser.
Citroen: The C4 and Berlingo are the two models on the list and neither did well.

Honda: It is Honda's third and a bit years in local production and they make just the one model, the City.
Toyota: Only in the LCV field, the Hilux and it is doing well.
Mercedes and Iveco: Both do mainly vans.
