The Sierra is made in Mexico... |
If asked to name major vehicle manufacturing nations around the world, you may not think of Mexico. Yet Mexico is quickly becoming a major vehicle maker, which in fact it already is. It has many favourable trade arrangements, so its cars can be exported far and wide. In 2014, both Mazda and Honda arrived and soon Kia will join them (2016). Audi will be there in 2016 as well and in 2017 Mercedes arrives, with an arrangement to share production with Nissan's Infiniti.
...as is the Nissan Versa Note |
Nissan manufactures mainly the Sentra and Versa/Versa Note cars, GM bases it's Mexican production on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Pick Ups. Chrysler makes mainly the Ram Pick Up and Dodge Journey, while Ford's main product is the Fusion car (Mondeo). For VW, its the Jetta car that keeps the plant rolling. Mazda is making the 3 and Honda the Fit (Jazz)/ CR-V models.
